Today it is practised by over 350 million people worldwide, with numbers continuing to grow year on year. 　　In an attempt to gain a better understanding of the different beliefs and practices that form the core of the Buddhist philosophy and investigate how Buddhism started and where it travelled to, Hughes visits some of the most spectacular monuments built by Buddhists across the globe. 　　Her journey begins at the Mahabodhi Temple in India, where Buddhism was born; here Hughes examines the foundations of the belief system - the three jewels. 　　At Nepal's Boudhanath Stupa, she looks deeper into the concept of dharma - the teaching of Buddha, and at the Temple of the Tooth in Sri Lanka, Bettany explores karma, the idea that our intentional acts will be mirrored in the future. 　　At Wat Pho Temple in Thailand, Hughes explores samsara, the endless cycle of birth and death that Buddhists seek to end by achieving enlightenment, before travelling to Angkor Wat in Cambodia to learn more about the practice of meditation. 　　In Hong Kong, Hughes visits the Giant Buddha and looks more closely at Zen, before arriving at the final wonder, the Hsi Lai temple in Los Angeles, to discover more about the ultimate goal for all Buddhists - nirvana.《佛教世界的七大奇观》下载观后评论：（1）印度─佛陀伽耶的大菩提寺：佛祖释迦牟尼在此顿悟成佛，佛教发源之所。（2）尼泊尔─加德满都的博德纳圆塔：典型的藏传佛教寺庙，全世界排名第一的圆佛塔。（3）斯里兰卡─康提湖畔的佛牙寺：南传上座部佛教，供奉着该国国宝─佛祖释迦牟尼的牙舍利。（4）泰国─曼谷的越菩寺：也就是卧佛寺，是泰国建筑规模最大、也最为古老的寺庙。（5）柬埔寨─吴哥寺：前后历经三十多年才建造完成，艺术雕刻精湛无双，建筑构造技艺极高，被称为古代东方的四大奇观之一。（6）中国香港─宝莲禅寺；（7）美国─洛杉矶的西来寺。这兴许是佛教较之于其他宗教的独特之处: "Buddha taught that each of us is entirely and solely responsible for our own lives and our own salvation. No one else can be responsible...the Buddha called himself a guide and teacher."只能说很浅显了，洛杉矶的欧美世界的最大佛教寺庙也是有点小，但是模式是非常中国的，唯一差别就是多了一些老外以及瑜伽课。关于信教问题，遇到了很多50-60年代的人先佛后天主，我一直无法明白信仰可以这么随意，以至于我理解为他们只把这个当作标签罢了，可能是特定群体的教育缺失。但我相信新一代年轻人对信仰会慎重很多，最起码价值观上会与自己一致，最怕的是不能跳脱功利式教育的恶果，因此找不到自身的平静。最近在看点佛教历史的书，于是选了这个纪录片看看。片子浮光掠影的捡了七个地方，从这几个地方的见闻，谈了佛陀的生平和佛教的一些教义，以及佛教的发展，主题都很宏大，这一个多小时一定是说不了的，当是个佛教简介看看还是可以的。从印度到尼泊尔，斯里兰卡，泰国，柬埔寨，香港，美国，重要的大陆、日本没有谈到。书本上的文字“菩提迦耶”，以视觉呈现的时候，还是可以做一些阅读的补充。这兴许是佛教较之于其他宗教的独特之处:Buddhataughtthateachofusisentirelyandsolelyresponsibleforourownlivesandourownsalvation.Nooneelsecanberesponsible...theBuddhacalledhimselfaguideandteacher." so shall you think of all this fleeting world. A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream, a flash of lighting in a summer cloud, a flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream."一部介绍佛教主要胜地与基本理念的普及宣传片。1）印度摩诃菩提寺：佛教三宝之佛宝；2）尼泊尔博德纳佛塔：三宝之僧宝与法宝；3）斯里兰卡佛牙寺：业；4）泰国卧佛寺：轮回；5）柬埔寨吴哥窟：冥想；6）香港天坛大佛：禅；7）洛杉矶西来寺：涅槃。当做佛教学习片看略显不足，当做风光片来看则有惊喜。入门看挺好的 有时候太深了反而让普罗大众无法直接有熟悉感/升起信心 没有中国确实不算完整 不过看看别的国家的正好算补充了 越来越多人意识到追求物质是没有尽头的是个死路 追求精神从而离苦得乐 求道的法门千千万 入门不必局限于佛 这个最究竟 但也是高级课程不一定适合所有人 看个人机缘吧唯一不满的就是没有拍摄西藏，藏传佛教虽然和加德满都的有类似，但是还是觉得应该拍摄西藏，佛教经过了两千多年的发展，从最先的摩诃菩提的寺庙到最后的中国的天坛，建筑相差甚远，但是供奉的佛陀意义差不多，果然建筑体现国家的文化，佛教最先起源虽然是反对婆罗门教的种姓制度，但是建筑风格相差不远作为一部纪录片，它的节奏计调镜头都是非常好的。但是对于佛学这种起源和兴盛于东方的标准东方哲学，它的剖析无疑是很浅显的，甚至不及一本入门书籍来的说明的清晰详细些。绕过了中国和日本，起码起码绕过了佛教中很重要的三个分支甚至更多，即使这几个并不是我倾向的教派。就仅作一看吧。关于佛教的纪录片好像并不是很多，这部的讲解相比较而言也略显肤浅，更像是七大奇观的一次风光巡游，想用十分钟来讲解一个地域的佛教也显得敷衍。在印度起了一个很好的开端，斯里兰卡的部分实在是毫无头绪，香港的部分也很莫名其妙。最后的西来寺是个很好的总结点。歌者Ani Choying；印度Bodh Gaya;加德滿都Bodanath Stupa;斯里蘭卡Temple of the tooth；曼谷Wat Pho;吳哥Angkor Wat;香港天壇大佛；哈仙達崗Hsi Lai Temple;选取的七个佛教胜地并非全部都具有代表性，不过比较有趣的是可以了解西方人对于佛教的形成、历史演变和核心思想的认识，全片的思路还是比较清晰，对于不了解佛教的东方人来说也是个不错的科普机会，当然你也不会苛求她能讲得多深入。★★★☆
